Park Place opened in Feb. 1991 as Elyria Corporate Consortium Child Care and Learning Center.  It was managed by the Covenant Management Program of Universisty Circle in Cleveland. It was the first type of center to be privately funded and operated excluively by local businesses as means of providing childcare for their employees.  The Consortium was comprised of Ridge Tool, Invacare, Northern Savings, Nord Family Foundation, Elyria Memorial Hospital, and The Chronicle Telegram. In 2005 the name changed to Park Place Early Learning Center continuing business with more slots open to the public.
